Copeville is an unincorporated community in southeastern Collin County, Texas, United States, along State Highway 78 near the east shore of Lavon Lake .
COPEVILLE, TEXAS. Miles Cope, one of the areas original settlers is the town’s namesake. Originally a mile west of its present location, the community was surveyed and platted in the 1870s. Copeville received a post office in 1878 and in 1886 the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad laid tracks a mile east of the community.

They are A. B. (Tip) Jones of Quanah, Texas; Dave Jones of Paducah, Texas; W. M. Jones, Houston, Texas; R. D. Jones, Lubbock, Texas; and the present Copeville Postmaster, Mrs. Lizzie Pearce. The son, Tip Jones, served as Sergeant-at-Arms of the State Legislature for several terms and is widely known and influential over the state.

It was originally a mile west of the present townsite and was named for one of the earliest settlers to arrive in the area, Miles Cope.
