About. D. A. Dorsey Technical College has a rich and positive tradition in the Liberty City area of Miami. It was established in 1936 as the Miami Dorsey High School. In 1970, its focus was changed to meet the needs of the adults in the community by becoming a fully operational adult center.

Who was D. A. Dorsey? | D. A. Dorsey Technical College. Dana Albert Dorsey, (1872-1940) was born a sharecropper’s son. He was born in Quitman Georgia, Fulton County and later moved to Miami around 1896. He worked for Henry M. Flagler’s Florida First East Coast Railroad Company as a Carpenter.
