Death[edit] McDaniel's gravesite at Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery in Los Angeles. McDaniel's cenotaph at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. On August 26, 1951, McDaniel suffered a stroke, complicated by diabetes and a heart ailment, and was admitted to the Temple Hospital in Los Angeles.
Jul 12, 2022 · On October 26, 1952, 57-year-old Hattie McDaniel died. Per Entertainment Weekly, her last wishes were to be buried at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and for her Oscar to be donated to Howard University, a prestigious and historically Black institution.
