   Higgs beach is on the southern coast of KW, some 15 min walk from the southernmost marker. It was a great place for us to relax and cool down in the sea after exploring that part of KW. Adjacent to the beach are terrific (free to enter) botanical gardens at the Gardens club (see that review).

   • While walking to the Key West Garden Club, we walked through Higgs Beach… It wasn’t bad, by Key West standards, as Key West really isn’t known for beaches in the first place, just popular for every other form of watersport. The beach has public restrooms, with no air conditioning, so they aren’t very comfy.

   • Amazingly, the Marine Park, Pier, and historic sites merely scratch the surface of the attractions available at Higgs Beach. Immediately across Atlantic Boulevard from the beach, you will find a kids’ playground with new equipment, pickleball courts, sand volleyball courts, tennis courts, and a dog park.

   • Free parking is available just outside the Garden Club if you prefer to drive. You can also easily reach Higgs Beach by bike or on foot from most of Old Town Key West. The public Beach is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., welcoming visitors throughout the day.

   Nice little beach to spend a few hours. The beach itself is small, but on KW this is expected. It was a short walk from the Old Key West Trolley Stop (#10.) Be aware, bring water & snacks if you have small kids. There are no places to buy those from.
