James Cosmo, born May 24, 1948 in Clydebank, Scotland, is a Scottish actor who played the role of Father Kellan Ashby on the FX original series Sons of Anarchy. Making his debut on the episode " Oiled " in the series' third season, James plays the role of the consigliere of the True IRA in Belfast.
On television, he appeared as Father Kellan Ashby on the third season of Sons of Anarchy (2010), Jeor Mormont on HBO's Game of Thrones (2011–2013), Farder Coram in the BBC series His Dark Materials (2019), and Luka Gocharov on the third season of Amazon Prime's Jack Ryan (2022).
Father Kellan Ashby was the consigliere of the True IRA in Belfast on the FX original series Sons of Anarchy. Played by Scottish actor James Cosmo, Ashby makes his debut on the episode "Oiled" in season three, playing a recurring role throughout the season, he met his demise in the episode "Bainne".
