Long rumored to be headed for either Florida or Florida State, Tampa high school running back/defensive end/linebacker James Wilder Jr. instead appears to be taking his football talents outside of the Sunshine State.
Wilder was considered the No. 1 athlete recruit in the nation in his class by Rivals.com. In 2009, Wilder ran for 1,004 yards and 15 touchdowns, while registering 136 tackles (66 solo) and 19 quarterback sacks on defense.

It was reported yesterday that, barring a change of heart, James Wilder Jr. would give a verbal commitment to Georgia on Wednesday. Apparently, that report was dead wrong.
Wilder is a rare breed of athlete that has the skill and athleticism to play on either side of the ball and would likely be a five-star recruit regardless of the label cast on him. Scout ranks him as the No. 1 OLB and sixth-overall prospect in the country, while Rivals ranks him as the No. 1 ATH and third overall.
