John Whitefoord Heyer OAM OBE (14 September 1916 – 19 June 2001) was an Australian documentary filmmaker, who is often described as the father of Australian documentary film. John Heyer spent the majority of his career producing and/or directing sponsored documentaries, and was active from the 1930s until his death.
