From the late John Wynn, who still is remembered as one of the finest Mandolin and Banjo builders in the Ozarks. This one is one of a pair of beautifully carved mandolins. The designs were sketched and carved by John. Beautiful voice with clear rich notes along with being comfortable easy to play.
Re: John Wynn Mandolins. John lived in Springfield Mo and was a banjo player. He has passed. He has 2 sons that play: John - fiddle and Berry - mandolin. John made a 3 point mandolin for Jesse McReynolds at one point. He was a nice man and a pretty good picker.
I received news today that John Wynn of Ozark,Missouri has passed away. John built mandolins and banjos for over forty years. He was always willing to help an aspiring builder and would willingly answer any question.

Aug 12, 2010 · John Wynn, builder of Wynn mandolins and banjos and the banjo player/band leader along with his wife, Betty of their family band, SouthWynn, passed away early this morning, Wednesday, August 11, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Mo. after fighting cancer for the past few years.
