The Kenya School of Government was originally established in 1961 as a Public Service Management and Development Institute. [3] [4] In 1963,it was renamed to Kenya Institute of Administration (KIA) with an aim of training and educating Kenya's post-independence high cadre civil service and government administrative leaders.
The School has in the past ten years focused on supporting County Governments to steer successfully through some four critical challenges. The Constitution of Kenya 2010 introduced the devolved system of Government that had to be established on the ground and put into operation from the year 2013.
