The Lincoln Memorial is a monument dedicated to Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States. During his presidency, Lincoln freed the slaves and led the United States through the Civil War. The Lincoln Memorial is in Washington, D.C., near the Potomac River. Construction began in 1914. It was completed in 1922.
