Oct 2, 2021 · For the first time outside of his home country, the Japanese filmmaker's work is being featured in a major retrospective at the brand-new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.

Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki designed the museum himself, using storyboards similar to the ones he creates for his films. The design was influenced by European architecture such as the hilltop village of Calcata in Italy.
