  4. Oct 2022. I recommend that before you go here, you read up on the history of Rockwood Hall (once a beautiful Rockefeller estate). Knowing the history, you have a better appreciation when you walk the grounds and see the ruins. The park is along the Hudson with a grand view of the river and the Mario Cuomo bridge.

  5. Estate to Golf Course to Park. William Rockefeller lived at Rockwood Hall until his death from pneumonia on June 24, 1922, at age 81. His heirs decided to sell the property, but when an individual buyer could not be found, a group of investors formed Rockwood Hall, Inc. and purchased the estate.
