Apr 9, 2019 · Route 66 was created as a U.S. highway in 1926 and it incorporated most of the N.O.T. roadbed west of Las Vegas in New Mexico. The road was widened further to 20 ft with 5 ft. shoulders, eliminating curves (1932 - 34) from San Bernardino to Victorville.
