The movie was announced in August 2013, with Kane set to reprise his role as the murderous Jacob Goodnight and the Soska sisters to direct. The Soskas claimed their desire in taking on the film was to "take the character [Jacob Goodnight] and bring him to the level of Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees."
Jun 20, 2021 · Like the Kane character, Goodnight has quite the awful origin story. The primary reason he's evil is that his mother, a religious zealot, abused him as a child. Once he grew up into a 7-foot monster of a man, she used him as a weapon to kill those she deemed to be sinners.

Jan 15, 2022 · While Kane's Jacob Goodnight seemingly died at the end of See No Evil, the 2014 follow-up confirmed that not only was he alive, but he's seemingly unkillable. In See No Evil 2's finale, the slasher is pumped full of embalming fluid - which still doesn't stop him. The sequel also made him more of a traditional slasher by giving him a mask.
