Nov 4, 2020 · From Shelter Island: the first ferry is at 5:40 a.m, and the last boat departs at 11:45 p.m. During the day, you’ll only have to wait 10-15 minutes for another ferry to board. One-way tickets cost $2, and same-day round trip tickets are $3 for you if you’re traveling without a vehicle.
Shelter Island residents can purchase a 10-trip resident pass from the office. They can be used either for round-trips from Shelter Island or for one-way trips from North Haven. There is no expiration date.
Shelter Island is only accessible by car ferry. The North Ferry departs from Greenport, NY and the South Ferry from North Haven, NY. The ferries are operated by two separate companies, so the ticket prices and schedules are different. Take the Long Island Expressway (I-495) to Sunrise Highway.
North Ferry operates every day of the year. Leaves Shelter Island. First Boat Mon-Fri 5:00 am. 2nd Boat Mon-Fri 5:30 am. First Boat Sat-Sun 5:30 am. then every. 10 to 20 minutes. until. 10:15 pm.
Shelter Island's South Ferry travels from the South Side of Shelter Island to North Haven, which is near Sag Harbor. You may contact them at 631-749-1200. The five minute ferry ride is available year round and carries cars and passenger trucks.
