The Sign of the Beaver tells the story of a 12-year-old boy, Matt, and his father, who, as early settlers, together build a wooden cabin in Maine in 1769. We enjoyed the novel, which opened up a lot of discussion regarding the cultural clashes between native Americans and white European settlers in the early 1700s. I had not seen this movie until one of my colleagues brought it to my attention.
