The Forks (French: La Fourche) is a historic site, meeting place, and green space in downtown Winnipeg located at the confluence of the Red River and the Assiniboine River. The Forks was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1974 due to its status as a cultural landscape that had borne witness to six thousand years of human activity.
The Forks will open for the 2024 season on May 21. The Forks is in Manitoba, in the heart of downtown Winnipeg. Winnipeg is easily reached by road, air and train. Plan to spend a few hours exploring the historic site and market; longer if you’re attending a special event.
Doors Open Winnipeg. Where Our Stories Meet | Parks Canada. Guided tours will start at 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm, on both Saturday and Sunday. This tour will depart from outside the Travel Manitoba Information Centre (near the Johnson Terminal) and will finish at the “WINNIPEG” sign.
