Happy Land (1943), based on the novel of the same name by MacKinlay Kantor, was a simple story told with a device made familiar by Charles Dickens, and just a couple of years later, cemented forever by Frank Capra. With Dickens, a set of three ghosts showed Ebenezer Scrooge the path to redemption.
