Wayne is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The county's population was 51,155 at the 2020 census. [1] The county seat is the Borough of Honesdale. [2] The county was formed from part of Northampton County on March 21, 1798, [3] and was named for the Revolutionary War General Anthony Wayne. [2]

Located in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania, Wayne County was carved from Northampton County in 1798 and named after General Anthony Wayne. Its proximity to New York City and neighboring urban areas has been a major factor in the county's heritage ever since this nation was young.
Wayne, county, extreme northeastern Pennsylvania, U.S., bounded to the northeast and north by New York state (the West Branch Delaware and Delaware rivers constituting the boundary), to the southeast by Lake Wallenpaupack and Wallenpaupack Creek, and to the southwest by the Lehigh River.
Wayne County is in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania, near New York City and Philadelphia. It has a rich history of coal, canals, railroads, farming and tourism, and offers Lake Wallenpaupack, the Delaware River and other attractions.
