On the last day of hearings, on July 1, 2016, the Grand Jury of Bergamo declared Massimo Bossetti guilty of murdering Yara Gambirasio and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Massimo appealed to the Supreme Court in October 2018, but the higher court confirmed his guilty verdict.
