Jan 27, 2022 · In 1739 Linnaeus married Sara Elisabeth Moraea, a doctor's daughter, usually known as Sara Lisa. Sara Lisa was a strict mother and housekeeper. Her maids had to rise at four in the morning and start spinning, with a box on the ears for anyone who overslept.
Around this time, Linnaeus decided that he could perhaps get out of poverty by marrying the right girl. Such a bride soon presented herself in the form of Sara Elisabeth Moraea, the daughter of a doctor who was one of the richest inhabitants of Falun, Sweden.
