Eddie Cantor (born Isidore Itzkowitz; [1] [2] January 31, 1892 – October 10, 1964) was an American comedian, actor, dancer, singer, songwriter, film producer, screenwriter and author. [3] Cantor was one of the prominent entertainers of his era.

May 29, 2018 · CANTOR, EDDIE (1892–1964), U.S. comedian and vaudeville performer. Cantor was born Isidor Iskowitch on New York City's Lower East Side. In 1907 he won a music-hall amateur contest, and then began touring with a comedy blackface act.
In a career that spanned almost 40 years, Cantor achieved stardom on stage, screen, and, above all, radio, while on television he was one of the rotating stars who helped launch the Colgate Comedy Hour. Cantor's is a prototypical show business rags-to-riches story.
