Jon Lukas (11 September 1948 – 11 June 2021), known as Woodenman, was a Maltese musician from Paola, Malta. He was the first solo artist in Maltese music history to achieve successful foreign pop chart placements in a number of non-native countries and to obtain a major global record company deal.

Jun 11, 2021 · The death has been announced of singer Jon Lukas, also known as Woodenman. Lukas, whose real name was Frank Agius, died at the age of 72 after a long illness. Lukas will be remembered mainly for his song “Can’t Afford to Lose,” which had been released in 1970 and had made him the first-ever Maltese singer to enter the UK top 40.
