My concern with Avenue Q being performed in a high school is not that song, but in the themes. It's a show that doesn't work in my opinion with an audience that doesn't have a lot of life experience like high schoolers, especially nowadays.

- “What Do You Do With a B.A. in English?” This song sets the tone for the entire musical. With it, we are introduced to our protagonist, Princeton. He has just graduated college and despite not having any real-world skills, is determined to make the best of adulthood.
- “It Sucks to be Me” It is very apparent that society has become more and more glass half empty in recent years. I try my best to keep my head held high, but sometimes I don’t want to look on the bright side.
- “If You Were Gay” I remember when I first heard this song. I identified with Nicky, just wanting to be the supportive straight friend. As I grew older, I found myself needing to hear the lyrics coming from Nicky more that needing to say them.
- “Purpose” It’s that little flame that lights a fire under your ass. I cannot begin to express what this song in particular has meant to me since I became a fan of this show.
