Like London's other three Inns of Court, Lincoln's Inn has the distinct markings of an Oxbridge college, what with its vaulted cloisters, manicured walkways and fondness for traditional terminology like 'Michaelmas'.
Lincoln's Inn is situated in Holborn, in the London Borough of Camden, just on the border with the City of London and the City of Westminster, and across the road from London School of Economics and Political Science, Royal Courts of Justice and King's College London 's Maughan Library.
The four Inns – Lincoln’s Inn, Inner Temple, Middle Temple and Gray’s Inn – have more than a little Oxbridge college about them. In addition to teaching, guidance and scholarships, the Inns provide a social network for members as well as a calm environment in which to work.

Their origins are murky but they likely formed in the 14th century. They provided practical legal training when English law was not taught in the universities.

Located between Chancery Lane and Lincoln’s Inn Fields, the inn’s exact founding date is unknown, but records of proceedings within it date back as far as 1422. The inn offers student tours twice a week, and it’s recommended that students book in advance.
All four Inns of Court can be found right in the heart of London; each is a haven of leafy calm in the busy hectic city. With their charming medieval and Georgian buildings and immaculately kept gardens, they have more than a hint of the Oxbridge college about them.
