May 2, 2022 · Still good though. But it's with the more fantasy style lyrics that he again shines: Gates Of Babylon, Kill The King and Lady Of The Lake are superb, both Dio and Blackmore in fine form. That said, the anthemic Long Live Rock 'N' Roll is as good a track of its type you will ever hear.
Mar 7, 2020 · While "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" is a good opener and very anthemic, the chrous does become a little repetitive and should have been shortened. "L.A Connection" is a poor, plodding rocker that is an obvious song to get into the mainstream.
Rising and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow are stronger albums. I would rate Long Live Rock & Roll with an overall 8.5 whereas Rising score 9.5 and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow scores a 9 for me. But those first three studio albums are certainly their three best ones.

May 20, 2021 · Long Live Rock 'n' Roll is Rainbow's last album with Ronnie James Dio, which signified a complete change in the band into a more mainstream pop-metal outfit. This album, however, is one of hell of a last hurrah for the original group. They keep the sound and style developed on their previous record, Rising, and expand on it a bit.
