The plot of this 1956 film juxtaposes the very traditional 1950s family life of a Scotland Yard Detective Superintendent with his dogged pursuit of a master safecracker.

The Long Arm. 1956. ★★★½. Watched Sep 23 , 2023. Even as a young man, John Stratton was a funny looking bugger. This Ealing crime film from director Charles Frend is often described as a pseudo documentary. But this is no The Naked City.

May 28, 2016 · Also known as "The Long Arm", this is a fine who-done-it drama well acted by stars and supporting character actors alike. There is one weak, if not hard to believe, link in the course of finding and pursuing clues - but other than that it is a fine script.
