But, generally speaking, it’s helpful to think of them in terms of two overarching and broad categories: factual and literary. We will discuss various sub-categories that fall under these two broad categories.
- Narrative. Tells a story. Characters, setting, plot, conflict, resolution. The text includes description and a sequence of events unfolding over time. Description.
