    A madhhab (Arabic: مَذْهَب, romanized: madhhab, lit. 'way to act', IPA:, pl. مَذَاهِب, madhāhib, [ˈmaðaːhib]) refers to any school of thought within Islamic jurisprudence. The major Sunni maddhab are Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i and Hanbali.
