The Iraq War (Arabic: حرب العراق, romanized: ḥarb al-ʿirāq), sometimes called the Second Persian Gulf War was a protracted armed conflict in Iraq from 2003 to 2011. It began with the invasion of Iraq by the United States-led coalition that overthrew the Ba'athist government of Saddam Hussein.

The first assaults on Baghdad begin shortly after the expiry of the 48-hour deadline for Saddam and his sons to leave Iraq.
