   • Men do compete, but only at the FINA level. Bill Mays (USA) and Alexandr Maltsev (Russia) are two very strong male artistic swimmers. Men can compete in team with other girls (at least what I’ve seen from a major Russian club on YouTube), in mixed duet, and in solos. They are not banned from the sport.
