Pikialasorsuaq (The North Water Polynya), or “The Great Upwelling” in Greenlandic, is the largest Arctic polynya and the most biologically productive region north of the Arctic Circle. Pikialasorsuaq has been recognized by Inuit for generations as a critical habitat.
