The IIHF World Junior Championship ( WJC ), sometimes referred to as World Juniors, is an annual event organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) for national under-20 ice hockey teams from around the world. It is traditionally held in late December, ending in early January (beginning from Boxing Day to January 5).

IIHF - Tournament Info 2023 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. Tournament Format. The 10 teams are divided into two, five-team groups in the Preliminary Round. After a single round-robin series in each group, the top four teams from each group advance to the Playoff Round while for the fifth-placed team in each group the tournament is over.
