  2. Duke Carl Michael left Denmark for his Remplin Palace estate in Mecklenburg in 1930, joining his nephew and heir Duke Georg who had been living there since 1922. On the death of Duke Carl Michael in 1934 his nephew Duke Georg duly succeeded as head of the House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
