Dr. James Kildare is a fictional American medical doctor, originally created in the 1930s by the author Frederick Schiller Faust under the pen name Max Brand.
Dr. James Kildare was initially portrayed by Joel McCrea in the first film in the series, Internes Can't Take Money, but was replaced by Lew Ayres in the role in the second film, Young Dr. Kildare in 1938, all the way through 1942's Dr. Kildare's Victory.
