Aug 28, 2019 · Malá Strana is divided between the lower and upper halves of the western hillside, opposite the Vltava River. The upper half consists mainly of Prague Castle, where most tourists flock (with good reason), but the rest of the Lesser Town has a more subdued vibe.
- Prague Castle viewpoint. The tour begins just south (to the right) of Prague’s Castle’s main gate, which boasts one of the finest views in the city. From here, you can look out across Malá Strana – drinking in the grand dome of St. Nicholas Church, the pretty spire of the Church of Our Lady Victorious and a cascade of beautiful red-roofed residences – and beyond, over the Vltava, to see the Old Town, the New Town and more.
- Ke Hradu to Nerudova. From the Prague Castle viewpoint, you’ll head down the short cobblestone street Ke Hradu – turn left at the bottom of the large stairway, and you will emerge on the bustling tourist street of Nerudova.
- Continuing down Nerudova. As you continue down the street, you’ll notice that Nerudova boasts an appealing assortment of little old burgher houses, which are now mostly occupied by quaint souvenir shops and cosy restaurants – but look closer.
- Malostranské Náměstí – Upper Square. As you come to the bottom of Nerudova, you’ll see that the street opens up into the upper part of a large square: Malostranské Náměstí.
The Church of Saint Nicholas ( Czech: Kostel svatého Mikuláše) is a Baroque church in the Lesser Town of Prague. It was built between 1704 and 1755 on the site where formerly a Gothic church from the 13th century stood, which was also dedicated to Saint Nicholas. - John Lennon Wall in Mala Strana Prague. Are you interested in graffiti? You can see some awesome art at the John Lennon Wall in Velkoprevorske Náměstí. Many talented and inspired artists have painted the wall through the years.
- KGB Museum. This museum at Vlašská houses the weapons, uniforms and artifacts from Russia’s most feared Committee for State Security. Interestingly, the KGB Muesum is a private collection.
- Kampa Park. Huddled on the bank of the River Vltava, Kampa Park is a restaurant with three summer terraces and a winter garden. Stocked with local and international dishes, this fine establishment has delicious food with the most spectacular views.
- Charles Bridge. The Charles Bridge is perhaps the most iconic landmark in Prague. If you are an instagrammer, it is difficult to photograph this bridge with no-one in it.
Jan 30, 2022 · Clustered around the foothills of Prague Castle is Malá Strana, one of Prague’s most historic districts. It was founded in 1257 by King Ottokar II of Bohemia, as the “New Town beneath the Prague Castle”.
The Lesser Quarter (in Czech Malá Strana), squeezed between the castle and the Vltava River, is together with the Old Town the historical centre and the heart of tourist Prague.
