In 1950, the complex was named the Warner Barracks in honor of CPL Henry Warner, who was killed in action in 1944 in Belgium following his heroic anti-tank actions.Almost every branch of the German Army was once stationed at the Warner Barracks.The Soviet Berlin Blockade in June 1948 changed the mission of the post from occupier to defender.Bamberg is one of the only cities in Germany that was not destroyed from aerial bombing in WWII.
