Biography. Charles Burwell born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1955. He received his B.F.A. in painting from Temple University and his M.F.A. in painting from Yale University. He is the 2008 recipient of the Pew Fellowship in the Arts in Painting and the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant.
