Donald Angus Gillies (/ ˈ ɡ ɪ l iː z /; born 4 May 1944) is a British philosopher and historian of science and mathematics. He is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Science and Technology Studies at University College London.
It tells the story of Donald Angus Gillies, who during the Second World War joins the Lovat Scouts, a Highland regiment of which the author’s grandfather and great-grandfather were veterans. He becomes a member of the Special Operations Executive, the real life secret army that Churchill started to train the resistance in Europe.
