Dec 1, 2021 · Dec 2021. This replica of the Statue of Liberty stands proudly in a roundabout just within the city limits of Colmar, France. It was constructed here since Colmar is the birthplace of August Bartholdi, who sculpted the one given to the United States.

One of the best things to do in Colmar, whether you are there for a more extended period or just a day, is to visit Petite Venise (Little Venice). The Italian floating city inspired this fairytale-like part of town and features a full line of half-timbered buildings that line a pretty canal.
Adress : Route de Strasbourg, 68000 Colmar. Locate. This statue made of resin is a 12-meter high replica of the Statue of Liberty. It was sculpted to commemorate the 100th death anniversary of the sculptor Auguste Batholdi, who was born in Colmar and created the "Liberty lightening the world".
Mar 11, 2015 · Surprisingly less well known is the lifelong connection between Colmar and the once-famed sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi (1834-1904), the creator of the Statue of Liberty. The sculptor’s former birthplace and home, on Rue des Marchands, was donated to the city in 1907 and is now home to the intimate and carefully curated Musée Bartholdi.

Colmar is the birthplace of Auguste Bartholdi, the celebrated sculptor of the Statue of Liberty. As such, the town turned the sculptor’s family home into a museum dedicated to his work, and erected a quarter-scale version of the Statue of Liberty in 2004, to commemorate the centennial of his passing.
