Apr 2, 2012 · There has been a lot of talk about The Hunger Games recently. I have read the comparisons to Battle Royale, to The Running Man and even to Logan’s Run and Dangerous Game. I have read that The Hunger Games topped $15 million in advance ticket sales. Unfortunately, I even read some of the racist tweets….
The problem is that the Hunger Games is sooooo much bigger than battle royale. What? do a Google search to make sure she wasn't plagiarizing from any one, or that scholastic didn't warn her.
I haven't read Battle Royale, but I saw the movie several years ago, so I'll use that as the basis of my comparison. Hunger Games is not a complete rip-off of Battle Royale. For one thing, all the themes Battle Royale explored are willfully ignored in Hunger Games and replaced with nothing.

Jan 18, 2013 · The Hunger Games is written in first person/present tense, whereas Battle Royale is written in third-person omniscient/past. I know it sounds pedantic, but I mention it for a reason.
