Newt Scamander is asked by Albus Dumbledore to help stop the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald, who plans to raise an army of wizards to rule over non-magical beings. Newt travels to Paris to find Credence Barebone, a powerful obscurial who may be Grindelwald's equal, while facing dangers and dilemmas along the way.
In 1927, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is being held prisoner by the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA). When departing New York for transfer back to London, he is freed by follower and former MACUSA employee, Abernathy. Grindelwald dispatches the guards and escapes.
