It will still be fully functional for use, because of the no strings attached trial. But, Reaper expects you to be honest, purchasing a license for your needs.

One thing I've noticed in this subreddit is how many people suggest Reaper as a free DAW. I'm not sure if people actually think it's free, or if they just think of never having to pay for it to continue using it as free. Reaper is NOT free, and it says that very clearly on the Cockos website.
You are right. There is no free version of REAPER. It is paid software. There is however a 60 day free trial that is not feature limited, and has a 5 second nag screen on start up. Importantly, after the 60 days is up the program does not lock the user out.
