Rick Friedberg (born March 11, 1944) is an American film and television director, screenwriter and producer, best known for his work with Leslie Nielsen. He is also the author of Hollywood War Stories, How to Survive in the Trenches , a memoir/advice guide on the film industry.

With "Spy Hard," Nielsen is shooting for another franchise character: super agent Dick Steele. Director Rick Friedberg worked with Nielsen on a series of Dollar Rent-A-Car commercials.

Even in the silliest pratfall, Nielsen allows just the tiniest glimmer of merriment to twinkle around the edges of his stalwart, purposeful glare. "Spy Hard," directed by Rick Friedberg, who collaborated with Nielsen on a comic instructional video on how to lose at golf, is a much less polished film than the "Naked Gun" movies.
Apr 8, 2021 · It was textbook studio meddling. The director, Rick Friedberg, has written about the experience at length. About 30 mins worth of footage was deleted by the studio, hence the 78-minute running time. I have read the original script and its much, much better than what we got. Like Liked by 1 person
