Born of quite possibly one of the most moronic cases of Executive Meddling ever, Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders (1996) started out as a horror anthology directed by Kenneth J. Berton. Unfortunately, the movie studios didn't want any more horror as family films were all the rage then.
In it, Merlin sets up an enchanting store in a modern-day strip mall, accompanied by his gleeful wife and gnomes, snakes, dragons, etc. From this framing device, we then see two stories about people's encounters with items from the shop.
Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders was the third episode produced for Season 10, but due to last-minute legal complications, it went un-aired until after the official series finale, Diabolik. According to Mary Jo Pehl, there were two choices for "The Stinger": the "Rock N' Roll Martian" scene and the psychic lady yelling "My God, David!".
Some dialogue here explains a very minor plot hole (if it can even be called that), that Merlin was gifted the monkey by Mordred as a prank and for some reason he decided to keep it around the shop rather than destroy it.
