The village is located on the east bank of the Hudson River, about 20 miles (32 km) north of New York City, and is served by the Philipse Manor stop on the Metro-North Hudson Line. It is also serviced by the historic E Witmer Ferry that shuttles tourists from Rockland County To Westchester in the summer.
Plot. The story is set in 1790 in the countryside near the former Dutch settlement of Tarry Town, in a secluded glen known as Sleepy Hollow. It relates the tale of Ichabod Crane, a lean, lanky, superstitious schoolmaster from Connecticut.
