When M*A*S*H ended in 1983, the cutline in the tv guide read, "130 million Americans laughed and cried as the 4077th went home." I finally saw the final episode about a year ago; laughing and crying is exactly what I did. It's ironic--in many ways, M*A*S*H was a parody of the Army in the Korean War.
