Bee Movie was nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at the 65th Golden Globe Awards. Barry B. Benson was the presenter for Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film on the 80th Academy Awards for 2008. Beforehand, he showed the audience some of his "prior" roles, including every bee in the swarm in The Swarm.
Bee Movie is the first motion-picture script to be written by Seinfeld. It is also the second Dreamworks Animation film to star Renee Zellweger and Chris Rock. Zellweger also starred in a 2004 film Shark Tale as Angie, while Rock starred in a 2005 film Madagascar as Marty .
