Summary. Linus is a small 2-4-0 English-American Steam Locomotive that works at the Trailway Railroad in the Western United States in the late 1890s with his engineer and good friend Henry (Linus and Henry). Their job is to take passengers to and from locations and through the mountains and a small town called Colonnaville.

Linus is the titular protagonist of the 2023 musical short film The Brave Locomotive. He is a sentient blue 2-4-0 American steam tender locomotive.
Linus is shown to be a cheerful train, enjoying spending time with his best friend and engineer Henry McCloud and being cautious not running over a tortoise. After Samson took his place in transporting people as to modernize the train traffic by the Baron Von Kapital, Linus fell into depression, reluctantly working as a lumberyard train, forced to work by a abusive driver.
Once he saw Samson, his engineer and the others in danger, he decided to do the right thing by breaking free from his abusive driver by sawing the chains and at full speed driving towards the broken bridge in spite of a hole in his boiler by the guard shooting him. After moving the passenger carts away he sacrificed himself by letting Henry and the Baron's daughter fill him maximum with coal until he exploded by overheating and dragging the bigger Samson.
Being a train, he can travel at great speed depending how much coal he is loaded with. He also require no driver to operate him at times.
•He's mainly inspired by Thomas and Casey Jr in design, he has the blue color of the former and overall appearance of the latter. The difference is he got larger eyes and no nose.

There are several steam locomotive corpses rusting away in the woods, with the hint that this guy didn't exactly treat his engines well (or even bothered to put in for some basic maintenance). He hits Linus in the steam dome when the locomotive runs away to save Samson from the falling trestle.
The Brave Locomotive is a six-minute independent animated short film produced and directed by Andrew Chesworth with music by Tom Hambleton at Undertone Music. It was conceived as a love letter to the Andrews Sisters and 1940s animation. Andrew Chesworth developed the concept in 2008, and produced and recorded the music with Tom Hambleton in 2009.
