B.A. Thieriot Vineyard is located southwest of the town of Occidental, overlooking Bodega at an elevation of 900 feet. This is the cooler side of the hills around Occidental, yet the vineyard is protected from the northwest winds and fog by a ridge to the north. We have a long-term lease on this site and farm it as if it were an estate vineyard.

In 2000, we began to purchase and lease properties in Anderson Valley and on the Sonoma Coast: B.A. Thieriot Vineyard, The Haven, The Pivot, One Acre and The Return. Today, our production is evenly split between estate and grower vineyards.

Cameron and Bridgit Thieriot, Max’s parents, purchased the property in 1988. In 1989 the first part of the vineyard was planted by the late Warren Dutton of Dutton Ranch. Grapes from these blocks have been sold to Landmark, Williams Selyem, Neyers, Littorai and Rivers-Marie.
Ted Lemon, who spent time as a winemaker in Burgundy, founded Littorai in 1993, and has made Chardonnay from this biodynamic, dry-farmed vineyard near Occidental since 1997. It’s my favourite among his four single-vineyard bottlings.
